Uses of fresh oil
Fresh oil has several areas of application. It can be used as motor oil, gear oil and hydraulic fluid. After it’s used, the old oil no longer meets requirements and must be replaced.

Tanks for oil changes

When a car’s oil is changed, the old oil is replaced with fresh oil. Unlike unused, fresh oil, old oil is dark to black and dirty in appearance. 

In contrast, fresh oil is light and clean. Wear, soot or metallic residue can be found in old oil due to its usage. 

Old oil is often collected in garages in a large tank specifically meant for old oil. A tanker then collects this oil. 
All motorised vehicles must have their oil changed every one and a half to two years, as the soiling caused by the oil may damage the engine.

Cleaning fresh oil tanks

The previously mentioned fresh oil tanks exist since tanks containing old oil are very dirty and it’s very difficult to purge them of all residue. The tanks are clean and transport or store clean or unused oil. 

This ensures that the fresh oil does not carry over any residue of the old oil.

Using fresh oil tanks as storage tanks

As fresh oil is generally used in garages, it needs to be stored safely and properly. This is where storage tanks come in. As these are designed only for fresh oil, they’re also fresh oil tanks. For such storage tanks, it’s important that they’re secure and firmly in place. Oil should not be able to reach the groundwater and, if possible, drains. Careful use is therefore very important.

Using fresh oil tanks for transport

If new oil is needed in an automotive garage, it’ll be delivered using transport tanks. So, a fresh oil tank is not just a storage tank that sits in a garage, for example, but also a transport tank. The same applies to old oil.So that the oil can be safely transported, the tank should be stable and robust.
